community forum?
Published 1 year, 9 months ago in My life. When this site started it was for everyone to join and express their opinions, ask questions and basically you could make contact with people in your own community. Unfortunately some people, myself included have been accused of self promoting and spamming ads’.I recently posted quite a few ads’ looking for a cricket coach and also letting people know about a local bingo game that is helping to fund the club. As a sports volunteer for more than 30 years and trying a new avenue(nooK) to promote the club I find it highly offensivethat people would critisise my efforts in recruitment. At some stage in your life your parents, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews cousins etc will have been involved in playing sport or even on a higher level as a volunteer administator. Believe me it is not an easy task as someone is always passing the buck, no-one wants to do anything to help and others just turn a blind eye. Being involved in both cricket and basketball I have been able to achieve something in my life I am proud of. Getting kids off the street and into a sporting club. Better that than hanging around in gangs and local hangouts. So before you critisise others take a look in the mirror and then ask yourself “What can I do do to help my community?”

PROBLEM IS, YOU DID NOT USE RESTRAINT. AS SUCH, PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY GOT TIRED OF THE BULK OF YOUR MESSAGES, AND
MOST LIKELY DIDNT READ ANY ON PRINCIPLE.
IN MARKETING, LESS IS ALWAYS MORE.

Good on ya mate!
Maybe posting all in a row wasn’t such a good idea? But I’m guilty of that too!
Thanks for the tips. I have learnt. See you are never too old to learn. I am not very good with this “internet thing” yet but if I keep trying I’ll learn more each day. Thanks again.
I didn’t find any of your posts offensive. However it was just that there were soo many of them. I read two and quickly bypassed the rest once I realised they were forms of advertising. I never even noticed the one about the Bingo because I assumed they were all about Cricket. I don’t like to waste my time reading about stuff that doesn’t interest me. If you had only posted 1 about Cricket, then one about Bingo I more than likely would have read both of them. But fair go, not everyone is interested in a page full of advertisements. Even those who do use the site as a way of advertising don’t over do it like you did.
Maybe next time post then leave it for an hour or two before you post about the same thing again. You should get more interest instead of alot of critisism. As theshadow said above - Less is always more.
Thanks skymija, I honestly didn’t realise they would all come up on the front page one after the other. If you care to take a look you will see that I placed them under different catergories thinking that one would go to each catergory. Hope that makes sense.
Something I learned about for spreading a message was WOMBAT. Word Of Mouth Best Advertising Technique.
I had no problem with it, I thought it was cute. I work with the president of a local cricket club which is adjacent to a “name” cricket club, so I know how tough it is.
Anyway MULTIPLE POSTS ARE BETTER FORM THAN SHOUTING !
