John Howard and his new name

Don’t know about you but I nearly wet my pants laughing last night during the news. Everything was so sombre, road deaths, Iraq war, earthquake in Indonesia them on comes our ex Prime Minister Paul Keating. He was talking about the Rudd and Bourke saga his feelings on our PM “that little desicrated coconut”. I’ve heard Howard has a few nicknames but I thought Paul Keatings was an absolute gem.

wonderwomen not sure it was desicated coconut or desecrated coconut as my tv in my home office is 3 seconds behind the lcd in the lounge room and I could hear them both, but god I got a good laugh.

Even Keating’s wit was a pale imitation of his forebears in the Parliament. Our leaders have become progressively more stodgy and culminated in the desiccated coconut.

And who can forget the old faithfuls, soon to be released on a double sided CD recorded to the tune of current pop lovesongs-

Paul Keating talking about John Howard:

*”He is the greatest job and investment destroyer since the bubonic plague”.

    talking about Andrew Peacock:

*”The Leader of the Opposition is more to be pitied than despised, the poor old thing. The Liberal Party ought to put him down like a faithful dog because he is of no use to it and of no use to the nation”.

*”We’re not interested in the views of painted, perfumed gigolos”.

*”It is the first time the Honourable Gentleman has got out from under the sunlamp”.

    Talking about Ian Sinclair:

*”What we have as a leader of the National Party is a political carcass with a coat and tie on”.

Order now and you’ll get for free:

“…votes for coalition members who have always been cheats, cheats, cheats and will always be cheats, cheats, cheats and will always defend cheats, cheats, cheats.”

    Enjoy…

And Costello was “all tip and no iceberg”! I LOVED that.

I’m pretty sure sure Keating called Howard a DESICATED (as is dried up) coconut … not a desecrated (as in divested of sacred character) coconut!

It constantly amazes me the depth of feeling about PJ Keating. His re-entry in to the political debate this week confirmed how dull federal politics is in the Howard Coconut Grove. Costello’s supposed wit is not even a pale imitation of Keating’s inspired material. How can you forget him calling Hewson a “feral abacus'’ among other epithets? I reckon that kind of inspired imagery should make voters of all political persuasions stand up and applaud. Sure beats the drone that passes for parliamentary debate on both sides of today’s Federal Parliament.
